Very good Italian restaurant located in the financial district. Known for its pizza, it also has a complete Italian menu. A hidden gem with excellent service
MoreSpaghetti is a specialty of mine everywhere I go, and I was disappointed in the meatballs. The pasta was where should be, but I tasted pork or something other than beef in the meatballs, and the seasonings were cheap. In addition the bread was crumple, once was enough.
MoreQuaint, friendly, local, family owned. This is an older establishment in downtown Chicago with some charm and history hanging on its walls. I ordered the 12" thin crust pizza to-go and loved it. The order was filled quickly, reasonably priced for a pizza of that size from a downtown establishment. And attentive service. The next time I'm in downtown Chicago and craving Italian food, I'll probably drop in again and eat in the restaurant.
MoreGot a great steak sandwich to go. I'm always treated well. The sandwich was FIRE!! Service was great.
MoreWorth a trip to the city Pizza is awesome Danny knows how to do it
Place has a bad vibe to it. Hard to explain. And don’t want to bring race into it but the moment I walked into the restaurant I immediately felt as if I was somewhere I had no business being period. It wasn’t a welcoming feeling at all. Purchased the 5 dollar slice. It did not compare to any restaurant I’ve been to with the same deal. It was honestly terrible. The guy in front with the glasses wouldn’t even hand me my food. He literally told me it was ready and placed it on the counter while I was reaching for it thinking he was handing it to me. He literally placed it on the counter and brushed past me.
MoreI swear this was the best spaghetti and meatballs I have ever had.
Excellent selection of wines, delicious appetizers and main courses. Love this place.
Morefood was out of this world, fantastic, calamari was great and service was amazing
MoreHad a great experience here yesterday with my family. We arrived very early in the day and felt very welcome. We ordered a basic pepperoni pizza. It was excellent. Our 5-year old is very picky, and I think that was the most of anything I have ever seen him eat. When we got home (Indianapolis) he asked "You know what my favorite part of Chicago was?" "The pizza restaraunt!!!" Incredibly friendly people and great food. We hope to visit again.
MoreVery nice 👍 service was great and Kathy and Jeri were the coolest chicks and the food was SOOOOOO good especially the pizza! I would rate 100 if I could!
MoreGreat food and small place atmosphere. First came about 10 years ago and will make sure to stop every time I'm in Chicago
MoreDefinitely a 'neighborhood' place, and about as authentic Chicago as you can get in the South Loop. Good food, the owner Danny always seems to be there and runs a tight ship. And yes, he'll introduce himself and sit down with you. Definitely NOT a chain restaurant....but one you'll remember for years.
MoreDon't let the dark, dated, original interior keep you away from this place. An affordable, authentically Italian restaurant, it has amazing food. Ordered a pizza with sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms and it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The sauce was mildly sweet and tangy at the same time with a good balance of herbs and spices. It makes other pizzas' sauces taste bland. The sausage was huge and also had nice flavor to it. I would give this 5 stars if the interior were updated, but if it keeps the price down, I'll keep returning.
MoreGreat day bartender. Salads and pastas are outstanding. Sucks that the ladies bathroom is upstairs.
MoreRose makes the place home along with Danny the host proprietor. Good values for lunch specials, regulars are rewarded with a warm cozy atmosphere.
MoreExcellent food, friendly employees, always awesome vibes. They charge affordable rates and the food quality is fantastic. Highly recommended.
MoreFast service, pricy yet delicious
Attend an annual Fat Tuesday for past 4 years. Staff is pleasant. Place needs an update
MoreI only had 30 minutes for lunch. Walked in a told Bonnie I needed a quick slice. Without missing a beat she asked 'cheese or pepperoni?' and told me where to sit. Not long later two slices and a Coke showed up, and they were exactly what I needed. On the way out Bonnie introduced herself. What a sweetie!
MoreFor close to 35 years I have been attending this fine restaurant. I have visited several other places. Nothing compares to it in the loop. The restarant is very clean sanitary and well organized. The restrooms have plenty of soap and hot water. The pasta selection is outstanding. The thin crust pizza is one of the best in Chicago. The desert menu is tremendous. Even the cheeseburgers are amazing. Attend!!
MoreIt took 30 minutes just to get a cup of soup. I ended up spending more than an hour here and I dined alone. The food was just okay, and didn't seem like it was worth the price. The server, although friendly, seemed kind of erratic. I am disappointed because this place has potential, with its nice atmosphere and its proximity to the L stop and the Metra station.
MoreA hidden gem! I can't count the number of times I have walked by and never stopped. My family and I stopped in one night and enjoyed what we all agreed to be the best pizza we have ever eaten. They have your typical deep dish Chicago pizza, pan pizza, and authentic Italian pizza...which is perfect. Very nice atmosphere, great service! Extremely reasonable prices and DELICIOUS....
MoreHappened to come up on this cute place while looking for a different restaurant. So glad we switched gears and decided to go to Boni Vino instead!Loved the ambiance the moment we walked through the door. Super friendly mixed with exceptional service and was treated like regulars, maybe even like family. The food was quite delicious. We started with the fried cheese sticks with marinara sauce and chicken noodle soup that was perfectly seasoned. Then went on to the main meal, grilled salmon salad with vinaigrette . . .YUM! The Husband had the Barbecue beef sandwich with fries. He finished every bite, and I swear I saw him try to lick the plate!!! We finished everything off by sharing a slice of Turtle pie, which was outstanding!Would I recommend this place? You Betcha . . . in a heartbeat!!!
MoreI visited Boni Vino Thursday the 5th. I’m not impressed at all. I’ll start by the waitress wasn’t very pleasant, she spilled the butter dish in my lap, and almost spilled my friends beverage. We had both ordered the stuffed shells. To sit and wait roughly 15 minutes to be told they only have one order left. ( which I understand this happens) so I was given several choices to replace my original order. I had chosen mixed ravioli. Well my meat filled noodles were under cooked, and my sauce was very watery, not to mention that the cheese ravioli was just warm. I left a $6. Tip cash. To later check my balance only to find my bill was larger than what my charge was..... I was charged an extra $7.90 to my card. I DO NOT recommend!!!!! By the looks of my receipt I was charged for a 20% tip. Even after leaving a 6% cash tip. The food nor the service warranted a $13.90 tip.
MorePizza was incredible. I mean awesome. Coke was tiny and no refills which is B.S. waitress was ok. Did her job because she had to not because she wanted to. Big difference. Cool photos on the wall nice place I would go again absolutely but I would request a much friendlier waitress. She was just DULL. No personality. But Dam the pizza was good crispy crust awesome sauce. Good cheese sausage and mushroom.
MoreThe pizza was great. The owner's behavior was strange and not very polite.
Fried calamari was good. Other items didn't taste that good. Very basic bar. Our server was rude and condescending. Place had a weird smell
MoreVery rude woman who answered the phone when calling about a Grubhub order that we never received. I was simply calling for an update (after an hour of not recieving my food) and was rudely interrupted by the woman who answered the phone stating “we don’t have any drivers”. In any type of sales / service job - you should never be rude to a customer. Do not give this place your business
MoreGREAT PIZZA. My gf and I went here hungry and we were not disappointed. We destroyed a large pizza and walked away stuffed. The price was reasonable and our waiter was attentive to our needs. It's a great place for thin crust pizza. I don't know how the deep dish is but I could only assume it's great!
MoreThe menu prices are definitely not correct! The waitress was very disrespectful when I asked why the total price was more than what was shown on the web. I am definitely not going to return because of my experience with the waitress. Customer service is just as Important as the quality of the food being prepared. The food however was tasty, compliments to the chef.
MoreIf you want good cheap slices from cool people please come
The service was horrible and the food not too far from it. My eggplant was extremely salty and it took 15 minutes to get a refill on my water and it wasn't very crowded. I heard the waiter apologize to the other two customers for their wait as well. Will never go back again.
MoreKiller pizza and bucket o' beer deals, with two of the most fun bar keeps in Chicago! Great place to hangout.
MoreDelicious food amazing place !!! but not if you are specifically Mexican Latino, go preparing as you could be a victim of racism by the staff.
MoreIt smells when you first walk in, like I cleaned carpet and sweat. I ordered a “SLICE” of pizza and i got two medium slices. It reminded me of the kind of pizza you buy at Walmart and make at home. Overall it wasn’t all that good, I won’t be going back. + there was some racist comments made by local customers and the bartender. The vibe wasn’t welcoming.
MoreA completely romantic Quaint restaurant perfectly adorned with incident lighting classic nostalgic pictures and old school Booth seating very chic Very Old Town Chicago we loved it we love the food the pizza was amazing the pizza sauce was great vegetables refresh I highly recommend it to anyone in Chicago or visiting. 😍
MoreToday, June 11, 2020, just before 2:00 PM I had the displeasure of being called the "N" word, told to go "F" my mother and other derogatory names all because I blew my horn at the driver of the Boni Vino van that was sitting at the stop light on Wells just before Congress as the light had turn green. When I attempted to go around the van the driver accelerated. After turning onto Congress I pulled forward whereupon the driver became even more belligerent! I inquired "are you serious...you're calling me all these names when the name of the business is posted all over the van?" I guess it didn't matter at that point as the driver began making obscene gestures with his tongue. Well, I guess the driver of the van, Illinois plate number ending in 1641 with the name of Boni Vino Restaurant plastered all over the van didn't care about what his employer would say when they see this review.
MoreGood for lunch.A healthy slice of pizza plus a pop for $5.50$
Best pizza by the slice! The crust is made to perfection and melts in the mouth. Service is warm and friendly. The restaurant is cozy and has a very old world romantic feel to it, not pretentious at all. Just straightforward authentic Italian food.
MoreCool restaurant. Very classic vibe.
Very cozy place on downtown Chicago busy streets. It's right next to the CBT and business offices. It's rustic, and good bartender and staff that treats you well. Pizza is good 👍
MoreSome of the best pizza. Classic Chicago pizza spot. You can't go wrong with this. Among the best sauce in the city
MoreBest Italian restaurant ever 😍
Been there twice. The first time the food was good, very authentic home made Italian food. The second time I went there, the food was horrible! I ordered chicken marinara with spaghetti. The chicken was rubbery and the spaghetti unspectacular and both were largely flavorless. I'm not a cook but i think I could do better with spaghetti! These inconsistencies in food tells me that they have lost their pride in cooking, what some would consider hearty Italian food. I don't think I'll ever go back. The server was nice and very attentive, though.
MoreFirst time to Chicago and a passerby pointed us to this little restaurant. Great food and great service. We were talked to like long time friends and our lovely waitress treated our son very kindly. Very cute, old time decor! Lots of pictures of people.
MoreYou made us feel very welcome thank you food was awesome. Now you'll have to come to Michigan and visit us at Lydia's down home cooking
MoreLove Rose the bartender! Good food, great atmosphere, always a seat at the bar. Nice and dark too.
Moreold school bar with large portions to share. decently priced lunch special. marinara sauce is on the sour-side, like a lemon zest or vinegar after-taste. it's lent, would have preferred a charcoal calamari but the grilled salmon salad saves the day. need to come back for pizzas according to all the sox fans.
MoreThere are a few tables in the front and a nice bar in the back. The staff is friendly and the owner is active on the floor and really enjoys enter acting with the customers. The menu is very full, ranging from steak to pizza. The standard Italian dishes are on the menu and the history of the recipes stands out. The lasagna is the perfect balance of meat and cheese and the meatballs are not too large. The sauce is very full of tomato flavor and just a little sweet. When you are tired of thick crust Chicago pizza the pizza here is a great change. The crust is thin and the toppings are balanced. The salad choices are great.
